Sponsors will be offering a limited number and amount of student travel awards to eligible and selected student authors who are presenting and publishing an accepted paper, as well as co-authors and non-author attendees attending Optics + Photonics (3 August - 7 August 2025). Students can receive up to $500 to cover travel costs. Travel costs that can be reimbursed include air fare, train or bus tickets, gas, parking, and also lodging, such as hotel or Airbnb. Students must save all receipts to receive reimbursement. If receipts are not kept, no reimbursement will be given.
Author Requirements and Eligibility
- must be a full-time student
- must have an accepted paper in the conference: Optical Trapping and Optical Micromanipulation XXII
- must submit your manuscript to be published in the Proceedings of SPIE
- must be available to present at Optics + Photonics 2025
- must submit 0.5-page document justifying the need for student travel support
- must submit 0.5-page document from lab head/PI identifying what the student will contribute or gain from the event and why travel support would be useful
- must submit preliminary receipts or invoices for travel expenses (airfare, hotel) Final receipts will be collected after the event
All Other Applicants
- must be a full-time student in a high school, undergraduate, or graduate program
- must be planning to attend Optics + Photonics 2025
- must submit 0.5-page document justifying the need for student travel support
- must submit 0.5-page document from lab head/PI identifying what the student will contribute or gain from the event and why travel support would be useful
- must submit preliminary receipts or invoices for travel expenses (airfare, hotel) Final receipts will be collected after the event
Please note: Students are not eligible if they have completed their PhD, ScD, or MD program
- priority will be given to Contact Authors and Speakers
- applications will be reviewed by the Selection Committee
- incomplete applications will not be considered
