The Robert F. Wagner All-Conference Best Student Paper Award (established 2014) is an acknowledgement of his many important contributions to SPIE Medical Imaging and his many important advances in the field of medical imaging. A first-place winner and runner-up are recognized with a cash prize ($1,000 and $500 respectively) and a certificate during the plenary session at the meeting.

To be eligible for the Robert F. Wagner All-Conference Best Student Paper Award, you must:

  • be a student without a doctoral degree (undergraduate, graduate, or PhD student)
  • submit your abstract to any SPIE Medical Imaging conference online, and select “Yes” when asked if you are a full-time student, and select yourself as the speaker
  • be listed as the speaker on an accepted paper within SPIE Medical Imaging
  • have conducted the majority of the work to be presented
  • submit an application for this award with preliminary version of your manuscript for judging by 29 November 2024
  • submit the final version of your manuscript through your SPIE.org account by 29 January 2025
  • request a PDF recommendation/confirmation from your advisor in Step 2 of the application process. Your advisor must complete their submission via the application system by 29 November 2024
  • present your paper as scheduled.

Nomination and recognition
A final pool of applications will be selected by the review committee. Robert F. Wagner Award finalists are recognized with certificates in their respective conference morning keynote session. All submitted papers will be eligible for the awards if they meet the above criteria. Award winners will be recognized at the SPIE Medical Imaging plenary session.

REVIEW PROCESS
Applications and submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by a Selection Committee.
Applicants will be notified of the results by the end of January 2025.
